Image of the Year

In January 2014, Brides Without Borders launched the inaugural ‘Image of the Year‘ competition – A competition designed to award exceptional wedding photography, featuring images nominated by BWB and voted on by our audience, you!  After a fantastic response during the first year, we’re back in 2015 with a brand new competition, and a whole lot more beautiful photography to share with you!!

What’s it all about?

Basically, it’s about recognising and promoting really exceptional wedding photography.  The kind of image that draws you back for a second, third, or fourth look.  It might be a candid moment,  a clever angle, an atmospheric shot that perfectly captures the location, or for whatever reason, just a really beautiful image.  It’s about recognising the really great photographers, who are able to capture the moments and the people that make up a wedding day creatively, artistically, originally and beautifully.  It’s about highlighting and awarding the kind of images that we all wish we could have in our own wedding album.

How does it work?

At the end of each month from February to November, BWB will select three images from that month’s blog posts, based on the criteria above.  The months of December and January are typically much quieter in the wedding blogsphere, so voting will not run for these months.  Any blog posts published during this time are still eligible for inclusion however, and images from these posts can be nominated for the first vote of the year. We then hand it over to our audience – a mix of brides and grooms, photographers, wedding professionals and wedding enthusiasts – to vote.  Voting will run for 7 days, and opening and closing dates will be announced on Facebook and Twitter.  The image with the most votes each month will become one of 10 finalists for the ‘Brides Without Borders Image of the Year‘ and the photographer will receive this shiny badge to display on their website.

At the end of the year, all 10 finalists will be up for nomination, and our audience will vote to determine the best of the best, the ‘2015 Brides Without Borders Image of the Year‘.

I’m a photographer, how do I enter?

Simple.  Submit your best work to BWB for publication!  Once it has been published on the BWB blog, it’s eligible to be selected for public vote.  We don’t insist on exclusivity, however it will certainly increase your chances of being featured!  If you are offering a submission to BWB on an exclusive basis, please be sure to let us know.  You can view our full submission guidelines here.  Please read them carefully before submitting.

How do I vote?

Opening and closing dates for voting will be announced each month on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to like or follow us to be kept up to date.  You will only be allowed one vote each month, so choose carefully!  Final voting to select the winner of the ‘Brides Without Borders Image of the Year‘ from all 10 finalists will take place in December and again, dates will be announced on Facebook and Twitter.
