Destination Wedding on Koh Phi Phi, Thailand by Erica Camille
I’m a little bit in love with this wedding. Not just because of the setting – the dreamy Phi Phi Islands off the coast of Thailand, famous as the location for the movie “The Beach“. And not just because it was shot by Erica Camille, whose beautiful pictures of Thailand always make me want to hop on a plane and go back there immediately. But mostly because Aimee and Michael really put their own spin on things when they flew in from Seattle to host their beachfront ‘friends only’ destination wedding. The truth is, the more guests you have at your wedding – family, friends, work colleagues, elderly relatives, kids – the harder it becomes to accommodate everyone, and the more you can find yourself ‘dumbing down’ some aspects or excluding certain things. So the idea of limiting your guest list to 12 of your best friends is actually pure genius! With everyone on the same page about how to have a good time, Aimee and Michael were free to do it their way . . . with a ceremonial slosh bucket of Thai whiskey at the altar, a barefoot beach party, some reggae tunes borrowed from the bar next door, and a late night boat trip to catch a spot of Mauy Thai wrestling in town.
In the word’s of their photographer Erica, “12 friends on an island celebrating love and life? What could be better? Not much, I’ve decided“.
Slosh bucket cheers to that!
