Gorgeous Seychelles Elopement by Divine Day Photography
I can’t think of too many more idyllic locations to get married than the star of today’s gorgeous real wedding. Anse Source d’Argent has a reputation as one of the most beautiful – and most photographed – beaches on earth, and has been described as “a long stretch of perfect talcum-powder sand flanked by swaying palm trees and huge granite boulders tumbling into the sea”. This beautiful, secluded cove sits on the coastline of La Digue in the Seychelles, a tiny island measuring just ten km’s square. It provided the drop dead gorgeous backdrop for the elopement of Austrian couple Doris and Phillip, who were joined only by their – rather amazing – photographer, Sandra von Riekhoff of Divine Day Photography. And how divine it was! In the words of Doris and Phil, ‘”best day in our life!”.
From the Photographer: As a destination photographer I have the great honour of not only being the one hand picked from around the world to shoot a wedding, but it’s often done all on the merit of a phone call from Graz, to London. In the first call it was clear that these two loved their photography. He’s an amazing photographer himself and throughout the day he was so sweet and eager to see a glimpse now and then of the shots we’d created, something I usually don’t like doing, mostly in fear that I’ll miss a moment if I’m too busy showcasing. But I couldn’t refuse the enthusiasm. We were, as it felt, situated on a dot in the middle of the Indian Ocean. La Digue, Seychelles, which often is credited by the National Geographic as having the most beautiful beaches in the world. One cannot get there by plane, you need to land first in Mahe, then take a short flight or ferry to Praslin before finally landing foot on La Digue. There are a few cars, mostly to lug heavy suitcases, but other than that the entire island is only about 10K and everyone does it on bike. They were married on Anse Source d’Argent, one of those internationally protected beaches. It was a very intimate affair. I was the witness, signing the registrar and the council made the cake for the couple and provided a bottle of bubbles. It really was all very perfect. I felt at times like I was inside of a brochure. They were so keen to get great shots and played along with all my insane suggestions…so it all has to be said they were co-collaborators here!
