Intimate Greek Island Wedding on a Private Estate by Gregory Kalampoukas
I love the ‘hidden gem’ wedding destinations. And I love intimate weddings. I also love the breathtaking Greek islands, so today’s wedding ticks an awful lot of boxes for me! Michael & Llewellyn headed for the Aegean island of Evia, a mere hour and a half away from Athens, but another world away in terms of peace, tranquility and privacy. The pair hosted a small group of family and friends at Villa Delenia – a unique private estate on the southern tip of the island comprising six separate buildings, hand built entirely from stone, wood and other eco-friendly materials, with quirky features such as hidden passages, a Turkish steam room and of course, a spectacular outdoor terrace overlooking the Aegean. Greek islands are often characterized by their stark white buildings surrounded by cobalt blue sea and sky, so today’s heavy storm clouds are a bit of a departure from the norm. But far from spoiling the view, I think they only add to the romantic atmosphere, setting the perfect dramatic backdrop to Gregory Kalampoukas‘s beautiful photos.
From the Bride: I was lucky enough to have my dream wedding in the country of Greece on the island of Evia. It was truly a dream come true. Everything involved was a leap of faith. The caterer showed up with delicious food, the DJ traveled far, but made it and kept us dancing all night and most importantly, the photographer happened to be one of the best in the world! I still can’t believe it all worked out so perfectly. Over 30 friends and family made the trip for us from all over the United States to witness me marrying the love of my life. It was romantic, dreamy and much more than I expected.
