Intimate Wedding in the Breathtaking Lofoten Islands by Nordica Photography
Today we’re off to the Nordic island of Svinøya, part of the city of Svolvær on Norway’s beautiful Lofoten Islands. Texan bride Sirena and her German groom Eric, actually met while travelling, crossing paths in the wine city of Mendoza, Argentina. Sirena had plans to travel to the town of Ushuaia on the southern tip of Argentina – often referred to as the southernmost city in the world – so Eric decided to follow her, quite literally, to the end of the earth! A destination wedding was the natural choice for this jetsetting pair, and as it turned out, the island of Svinøya kind of chose them. I’ll let Sirena explain below! I hope you enjoy the view from this unspoilt Arctic isle. For a tiny place, it sure packs in an awful lot of breathtaking landscapes.
From the Bride: You can see from the story of how we met that traveling has had a role in our relationship, so making a vacation out of our wedding just seemed natural! We traveled to Norway for vacation a few years ago, and fell in love with the country. We only stayed in the south, but felt taunted by the beautiful photos of northern Norway, and planned to one day go back, and specifically to the unique landscape of the Lofoten Islands. We didn’t actually choose Svolvær though. The only way we could get squeezed into the booked officiant’s schedule was to be flexible. She was based in Svolvær, so that’s where we were married, but it worked out perfectly. The day of our wedding really felt like heaven on earth. The light was stunning and so was the ever changing landscape of the Lofoten Islands.
