Seaside Wedding in Greece by Gregory Kalampoukas Photography
I love it when couples run away to those slightly ‘off the beaten track’ destinations to get married. The hidden gems with all of the beauty, history and character of the popular spots, that just happen to be off the radar for some reason. Today we’re in Greece at one such place, and no . . . it’s not one of the islands. The village of Syvota is part of mainland Greece, located on the north coast overlooking the beautiful Ionian Sea. It has everything the islands are famous for . . . a stunning sunset, turquoise water, amazing Greek food and plenty of secluded coves to explore. And unlike most of the islands whose beaches are covered in pebbles, Syvota even has a few stretches of beautiful white sand! It was the perfect setting for John and Vaso’s intimate ceremony in a little cliff top chapel overlooking the sea, followed by a poolside reception under the stars. With a backdrop like this, I doubt this little gem will stay hidden for long.
From the Photographer: John and Vaso first met at the Pilates studio where Vaso was working, and it was love at first sight!!! They planned their wedding in Syvota, Greece at the Diamond Spa Resort beside the beautiful Bella Vraka beach. The village of Syvota is the perfect place for a wedding in Greece, and one that doesn’t demand a boat trip. It is full of perfect beaches, great food and just a short sail to the islands nearby. The party for John and Vaso started a day before the wedding on Mikri Ammos beach, and the couple spent their time with guests, swimming, relaxing and dancing in the beach bar. The small church where the couple married, the blue sky overhead and the spectacular view of the sea, along with the beautiful small details of the wedding, all exuded a very romantic, natural and lovely atmosphere! It was a pretty incredible destination. The beach, the landscape, the whole place showed its hospitality with simplicity and generosity!
