Wanaka Wedding & Panoramic Photo Shoot on Mt Roy by Golden Hour Studios
Whoa, Nelly! Just you wait until you see the view from today’s wedding. We’re in New Zealand, at one of my favourite locations – and favourite wedding backdrops – the spectacular, the breathtaking, the jaw dropping Wanaka on NZ’s south island. After a beautiful lakeside ceremony at Glendhu Station, Jeni and James did what any self respecting couple getting married in this amazing part of the world would do . . . they jumped straight in a helicopter and headed for the peak of nearby Mt Roy! It’s the perfect spot to take in the full panorama of the area, with 360 degree views of Mount Aspiring, the Matukituki Valley and Lake Wanaka below. It’s actually the second time we’ve featured Mt Roy on the blog, and our last wedding was quite a different affair. This mountaintop elopement had one of the most beautiful, dramatic stormy skies I’ve ever seen, quite a contrast to the impossibly blue sky and perfect fluffy white clouds from today’s wedding! It’s interesting to see how incredibly different a location can look at opposite times of the year, yet both of these weddings were shot within a few months of each other – the elopement in February and Jeni and James in April. Wanaka is one of those locations that can often experience ‘four seasons in one day’ . . . . sometimes all in one hour!! But rest assured that whatever time of year it is in Wanaka – or whatever time of day! – the scenery is ALWAYS spectacular. A very big thank you to Jesse of Golden Hour Studios for taking us up, up and away for the ride! (And don’t miss his ‘behind the scenes’ video at the end!).
